About AVIATION WEEK Program Excellence
Each year the Program Excellence Initiative seeks nominations of complex system and sub-system programs and projects to apply for the Program Excellence Award. The evaluation is based on capabilities along four key metrics -- creating value, leading an effective organization, adapting to complexity, and performance (schedule, cost, requirements). Risk management falls within the adapting to complexity category, and during the past two years the Program Excellence Evaluation Team has critiqued programs for not fully understanding and planning for risk and, significantly, for not fully capitalizing upon opportunity.
